Seven Brides For Seven Brothers

Just got back from a great performance of Seven Brides For Seven Brothers at Liberty University. It was great!

Overall, the show was well done and alot of fun. I was especially impressed with the barn dance scene.

Before the main show there was a 30 minute play written by one of the seniors called “The Unexpected Visitor”. (It was a non-musical play). It was a glimpse of a church (just before Christmas) that was so busy bickering over what color the choir robes should be and what committee should do what they had lost sight of what was important. The play had several great characters in it. I think structurally the play needs some work - it was just too much to properly cover in 30 minutes. Perhaps if it was lengthened and there was a moderator. But I think the play had some great stuff in it - great characters and some great comedy lines.

The acting in both shows was excellent, as were the stage sets. The music was good - I was especially impressed by the actress playing Millie - she had an excellent voice and played her character very well.

Fun times. Here’s a clip from the movie for your enjoyment:

My best friend goes to school there! LIberty is a very good university, I expect their shows are just as well done.

I love watching plays…I live in NJ and I regularly go into NY city to broadway plays. Plot sounds really clever and I think many people do lose focus of what the holidays are all about.
